This Time of Year!

The month of December causes way too much stress! As a child, I just enjoyed the snow, the lights , the presents, and of course, my family.Being a music teacher, December is jam packed with performances. Not only is my Q2 repert due for Globaloria, but I also have public concerts for both schools. Finding time to Christmas shop, grade papers, rehearse groups, and spend time with my own kids can be a challenge.

Although I am feeling extremely stressed today, I am going to take a step back and remember the true meaning of Christmas. I encourage each of you to stop and take a moment to look at the beautiful snow outside your window (if you are in Greenbrier Co)or all of the wonderful wonders right before our eyes. Remember all of the wonderful things we have been blessed with. Have a wonderful Holiday.....and I hope to see you at one of our concerts.

Back at Work!

I hope everyone had a wonderful week off. It was a much needed break for all of us, students included. The turkey day was great and , as always, I enjoyed time with my family. I do have to admit that Friday was very disappointing. I drove to New Martinsville to watch the Greenbrier West game. Although our team lost, I am very proud of the players and the fans for hanging in there for a VERY long football season. YAY CAVALIERS!

On Saturday, I drove to Huntington to watch the Marshall University football game with my boys. It was very exciting (especially the band).

Yesterday, I rested.

And now ladies and gentleman it is time to get back to some seriuos game design! We have alot to do before our Q2 report is due on December 15!

A New Day!!!!

Wow what a Monday! Today we finished registering for the game competitions. I am so excited for my kids to get started. We have so much to learn about so many things. I am hoping that everyone is as overwhelmed as I am. I am expecting to ask for help from all of my collegues. Get ready for some emails! Tomorrow we will be videoing our paper prototypes and I will be doing our video prototypes as well. Look for them soon.

A Long Week!

TGIF!!!!!I don't know if as a teacher I am supposed to say that but it is true. Although this week has been long, it has been productive. This was Homecoming week so there were LOTS of crazy activities and class disruptions. Through it all, my Globaloria kids managed to pull through. We created all of our team pages and started on our paper prototyping. I am so very proud of all of them. I am looking forward to seeing all of their ideas on paper and video.

The Mini Game!

We have been working on our mini games. The kids have really enjoyed this but are having trouble following specific directions. The games turned out great. I am very proud of my students. I have to admit that I am a little nervous about starting the actual game design. I am sure we will do fine.

Mini Game.....

Today we really started to get into the mini game. It was a very difficult day. It is very hard to get the students to work at the same pace on this. They are trying so hard and I am very proud of them. It is hard when I don't know the answers to their questions. They are working hard and when it doesn't work, I have no idea why. We are all learning together. When I don't know the answer, usually one of the others does.

Excited Students

Although the past few weeks have been very exhausting and a bit overwhelming at times, it is starting to pay off. My students are so excited about Globaloria. I am amazed at the ideas that they are coming up with. Most of them have really taken it seriously and are excited to jump right into FLASH! The time goes by so quickly. Today we tried to get everyone caught up and a few were working on their mini game. We have ran into a few problems with flash but I think it was because we didn't save it correctly.

Several of the students are really helping me out. They seem to figure things out faster than I do most of the time. Thanks guys (or should I say girls?)
