Motivation
I am having a very difficult time getting my students motivated to complete their assignments. I have a good group of students but they are wanting to give up at tahis point. To my collegues....ANY SUGGESTIONS?
End of Year
This has been a very trying month (or two). I have found myself overwhelmed with teaching Globaloria , as well as, my regular classes. In early May we had our production of Aladdin at WGMS. This was a huge project for me and it greatly affected my Globaloria classes. I just returned from a NY trip where my fourth graders performed at Carnegie Hall NCY. WOW what an experience for all of us.
Due to the fact that Globaloria was scheduled uring a flex class and not a regular class time, everyone is pulled from me whenever needed elsewhere. I have seen my students 2 times in 2 weeks. This issue will be resolved next year thankfullly.

A Country In Trouble
Wow! What a weekend it has been following the news of the disaster in Japan. Thousands left dead and millions left homeless with no food, water, or shelter. On Friday afternnon, an 8.9 earthquake shook the entire island of Japan. The results caused a tsunami that effected the entier Pacific coast. Over 10,000 people have been reported dead and thousands more injured or missing. Japan is a highly developed country and this is an unbelievable shock for the world.
Not only have they had to deal with the earthquake, and a tsunami, But know they are dealing with the possible meltdown of 5 diffferent nuclear reactor facilities. Two of these facilities have already had hydrogen expolosions and are emitting radiation. There are conflictiong stories about the dangers and risks of the radiation levels. I am not a scientist, but I certainly know that the Japanese people are in need of our resources, htoughts, and most importantly. OUR PRAYERS!

WHAT A WEEK!
Well this was writing assessment week for us at WGMS. I teach both 7th and 8th grade in Globaloria so our schedule was completely thrown off. The students were moved to the library to computers that did not have Flash installed. By Wednesday we were up and running. The studetns have been working on using the arrow keys for navigation.
We seem to be having trouble understanding that the games have to be educational and not just puzzles. The kids have really ggod ideas, but we are not getting the ideas to the game concept. I feel like we are in a whirlwind. Anyone else out there feel that way right now?

WHAT A WEEK!
We have been working for two weeks to complete 'adding buttons'. During that time we have ran into MANY pbstacles. After repeatedly trying......none of our 'back buttons' work. We used this code...
stop();
NextButton.onRelease = function() {
gotoAndPlay("TeamIntro");
}
BackButton.onRelease = function() {
gotoAndPlay("TitlePage");
}
Now Flash CS5 is no longer working on our computers and two of our flask drives are not working.
This has left many of the teams with no demo and having to start over. This has been a crazy week. We can only hope that next week is better.

Adding Scenes
This week we have been working on adding a scene to our game demo. This has been a challenge for us for many reasons. Many of my students actually followed the tutorials on the wiki and were totally confused. Adding folders did not work well with this assignment. We had to go back and add layers for the entire demo and fix things from the previous assignment.
My students have done a great job adapting to this. We are on frame 2 of the demo and I hope to move along rather quickly for the remainder of the week. Keep up the good work guys.

Another Snow Day!
Well here we are at home once again. Today was snowday #3 and tomorrow will be #4. For my fellow Globalorians, I am sure you are all working on your Q2 reports as well. I have been very pleased with my students thus far. We have ahd a few minoir mishaps, but all in all we are off to a good start.
It looks as if we may be in for a few more snow days in Grenbrier County. The storm seems to once again, stopped right over top of Western Greenbrier County. We have about one foot of snow and gusty winds right now.
It's amazing that we get so much more snow than the Eastern end of the county. Check out the forcast for Rainelle Weather. Everyone...Good Luck on your reports and maybe sometime soon we will get back to school.
